Ho Man Colman Leung

I am a first-year PhD student in Computer Science at Dartmouth College, working with Prof. Xia Zhou. Before that, I earned my BSc and MPhil in Computer Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Pheng-ann Heng and Prof. Chi-wing Fu.

My work focuses on making computers more accessible to users by understanding human behaviors from the computer's perspective and providing a tailor-made experience to users. This is done by combining sensing technology, ubiquitous computing, and aesthetics into novel interactive systems.

Work Experience

2018 - 2020

Research Associate

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

  • Developing a robust multi-camera multi-object 6DoF real-time tracking system for precise tangible interactions used in medical simulators.
  • Improved tracking performance by parallelizing the algorithms, accelerating with CUDA, and overlapping the operations with pipelining.
  • Currently achieved >60 frame rate for tracking two small objects accurately within a 60 x 60 cm2 area.
2012 - 2015

Software Engineer

Dracaena Life Technologies Co., Ltd., Hong Kong

    • Designed the system architecture and developed an anatomy visualization tool for educational purposes, featuring stereoscopic 3D visualization to create an immersive learning environment and mid-air gestures using Leap Motion for interactive navigation.
    • Deployed in School of Nursing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. User Study showed positive feedback from users.
  • Virtual Acupuncture

    • Developed a Traditional Chinese Acupuncture Simulation System based on the Interventional Sonography Training System.
    • Modified the original needle to measure the needle's rotation using rotary encoders and arduino microcontrollers.
  • Interventional Sonography Training System

    • Implemented new features including stereoscopic rendering and head tracking 3D simulation using Kinect.
